I don’t do it often or hand out five stars on a whim. Artemis Crow has created a rich and unique world with characters to match. Lyon is beautifully flawed and you can’t help but fall in love with him. Persephone is a strong leading lady, just the right combination of tender and tough. There are so many others in the supporting cast I want to know more about, where they came from, and why they are the way they are. All of the characters are well-developed and show growth over the course of the story. The paranormal genre in general is getting harder and harder to write in. So many concepts have been done to death. Creating a new spin on old themes, while not impossible, takes some careful thought and consideration, which Crow has done and done well.

Laettner – A world alive with danger and darkness – It took me a few pages to gear my mind to the world and as I fell into the spell it created, I found myself lost in a thrilling tale. A great storyline, twisted along with subplots, wrapped up with a glorious bow and hand-delivered to my senses. I cannot wait to dive into book two of the series and I am so glad I picked this one up. Demons, magic, hope, and personalities larger than life. A thrilling read and I highly recommend this one. Kudos, Artemis, on a wicked imagination set loose within these pages.
